DANSVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - State officials have suspended a New York day care provider's license after authorities say she left children alone to go to a McDonald's.
The state Office of Children and Family Services says Shelly Sick's day care license was suspended after inspectors found unsupervised children in her home last Friday in Dansville, 40 miles south of Rochester.
Police tell local media outlets that they were tipped off that Sick was leaving children alone. They found the children, ages 7 months to 3 years, unattended when they arrived at Sick's home, where she has operated a licensed day care business for 13 years.
Sick is charged with seven child endangerment counts and misleading authorities about the number of children in her care.
She pleaded not guilty Wednesday afternoon.
