BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - A Bufalo woman has been convicted of stealing the identities from her tenants.
Tancy Taylor, 40, was sentenced to two years in prison today by U.S.District Judge Richard J. Arcara. Taylor must also pay full restitution of $29,100.
Taylor rented out her home at 460 Monroe Street in Buffalo, gathering identity information from prospective tenants such as social security numbers, dates of birth and employee information. Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell Ippolito, Jr., stated that Taylor used this information to open on-line banking accounts at two local banks. She then used the accounts to take out loans and pocketed the proceeds.
More than 100 bank accounts were linked to Taylor and this scheme.
