NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Police say a Tonawanda man abducted a young girl from her house early Saturday morning, took her to an unknown location, and then sexually assaulted her.
North Tonawanda, Tonawanda and Town of Tonawanda Police worked together to investigate the kidnapping and arrested David Grover on Saturday, after the incident took place. Police say Grover and the girl's family know one another.
Grover has been charged with second degree kidnapping/sexually motivated felony and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police confirm to News 4 that this is not the first time Grover has faced charges for abducting a child. In 2007, Grover snatched a girl from her home, sparking an Amber Alert and an intense four-hour search by family, neighbors, and police.
Grover had been a former friend of the girl's mother at the time of the abduction. The four-year-old was returned unharmed, and Grover was sent to prison for three to six years and ordered to stay away from the the child's family for eight years. At the time, Grover blamed his addiction to cocaine for the kidnapping.
Police are asking anyone who has any information on this case or David Grover to call North Tonawanda Police at 692-4312, especially if anyone saw an adult man and a young girl between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Saturday in a gray Eagle Talon or walking near a wooded area.
Grover is being held in Niagara County Jail without bail.
