BARRE, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Orleans County Sheriff's Office says a man fought them, when they were attempting to take him into custody after a domestic dispute. The sheriff's office says they tried to take 49-year-old Charles F. Sheets into custody, but he fought them and injured one of the deputies.
When Sheets was subdued, he complained of chest pain and was taken to Medina Memorial Hospital. He was discharged five days later, but the sheriff's office was never notified.
Deputies say they learned he was in a Livingston County motel on Monday night. He was taken into custody at the motel without incident, and turned over to the Orleans County Sheriff's Office. He is charged with felony second-degree assault, and was committed to Orleans County Jail without bail.
Sheets is also facing second-degree harassment, third-degree menacing, reckless endangerment of property, fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
