BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A federal grand jury has indicted a former Buffalo man on bank robbery charges.
Prosecutors say Clifford Smith, 32, robbed four HSBC Bank branches between September 29, 2011 and November 8, 2011. All told, authorities say Smith gained around $32,000 from the robberies.
Smith is charged with robbery, entry of a bank with intent to commit a larceny, bank larceny, and brandishing a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence. He could face a maximum sentence of 25 years in jail if found guilty, and the firearm charge carries a mandatory seven years imprisonment.
