STAFFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) - State Police believe they've caught the vandal who is apparently angry with President Obama. Investigators say he spray painted a hateful message five times.
The messages were full of curses and political punch. Cops arrested a Rochester man who they say left himself vulnerable and was asking to be caught.
State Police Lt. David Denz says President Barack Obama was the target of the messages on bridges and signs along the 90.
He said, "Anytime, you know, you have threats made against a dignitary, such as the president, you want to make sure it doesn't go any farther."
And it didn't. Troopers arrested 54-year-old Oliver Glover and say he admitted to spray painting explative laden statements out of anger. The messages led to both concern and frustration for police.
"The tags were getting painted over, and within a day or two, similar remarks against President Obama were showing up in the same locations," said Lt. Denz.
In some cases, State Police say Glover would actually pull over alongside the 90, find a hill, climb up it and spray paint his political rhetoric all over the bridge. They say the taggings happened in the dead of night, but it wasn't hard to find him.
Lt. Denz explained, "The vehicle that was witnessed leaving the scene actually had anti-President Obama signage on the back window, which made it that much easier to locate him."
Incidently, Glover was caught along the thruway near his last reported tag with cans of spray paint still in his car. Police say he posed no credible threat to the president
Glover is charged with third degree criminal mischief, five counts of making graffiti, possession of graffiti instruments, and unlawful dealing with fireworks. Police say his tagging took place between Buffalo and Rochester.
Glover was released and is due back in Town of Stafford Court next week.
