COVINGTON, N.Y. (WIVB) - State Police say a Rochester man led them on a pursuit Friday, that began in the Town of Covington in Wyoming County. Police say they stopped a motorist for traffic violations Friday, and while they approached the vehicle, the 2000 Mercedes fled the scene.
Troopers pursued the vehicle into Genesee County until they lost sight on the car. Local law enforcement was given a description of the vehicle, and it was then spotted in Livingston County.

Troopers and Village of Perry Police tried to stop the vehicle again, and another pursuit began. The operator nearly struck a marked State Police vehicle head on, according to police.
The vehicle left the roadway at a dead end. Troopers say they were able to take 41-year-old Shawn E. Wallace into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Police say he had a revoked operator’s license at the time of the stop, which troopers believe may have led to his decision to flee. Wallace is charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle, along with several traffic violations in several jurisdictions.
There were no injuries sustained by either the defendant Wallace or any of the involved officers.
