BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo man pleaded guilty to a terrifying assault case that happened in October 2011.
Forty-eight-year-old Namon Kitchen admitted to attacking his girlfriend in his Deerfield Avenue home. Kitchen admitted to striking her in the face, causing a swollen eye and loose teeth. Kitchen wrapped a pillowcase through the woman’s mouth, to muffle her screams. The victim lost consciousness.
The District Attorney’s Office said a concerned neighbor called 911 and the victim was able to escape the home.
After the assault, it was determined that Kitchen fled the state. He was arrested in Ohio five months later, and now faces charges in New York State.
Kitchen pleaded guilty as charged, to second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault. Kitchen faces a maximum prison sentence of seven years when he is sentenced in October.
