CANISTEO, N.Y. (WIVB) - State Police are hunting for a man who apparently tried to abduct a sleeping 10-year-old girl from her home in the Village of Canisteo early Sunday morning.

Police say the man walked into the unlocked residence, picked up the little girl and carried her down the stairs. But, for some reason, left her.

Thankfully, the girl wasn't hurt. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 607-776-6866.
