TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - An investigation into heroin sales resulted in two arrests and three children being taken to the hospital. The incident happened at the Economy Inn on Grand Island Boulevard, in the Town of Tonawanda.
Police say they executed a search warrant in a hotel room and 22-year-old Indalaccio Rodriguez-Escalera jumped out bed. In an attempt to destroy it, he allegedly threw a handful of heroin around the room and showered three children with it. The children, between the ages of three years old and three months old, were exposed to the narcotic and were taken to Women and Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
Also in the hotel room was Rodriguez-Escalera’s girlfriend 22-year-old Melissa Rosario. They are both charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment.
Rodriguez-Escalera was held on $100,000 bail and Rosario was released to her parents.
