LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) - A teenager who admitted to murdering a Niagara University student learned his fate Wednesday morning. In Niagara County Court, Gordon Jackson was sentenced to 21 years to life for the murder of 20-year-old Brandon Johnson.
Johnson was shot and killed during a botched burglary attempt at his University Court apartment last December.
In court Wednesday, Jackson's family and the victim's family were both in tears. Jackson turned and addressed the victim's family during sentencing, he said he didn't mean to do it and that he was sorry.
The victim's family says no words can heal their hurt, their son is never coming back.
A second person, Cordero Gibson, is also charged in this case. Police believe Gibson had knowledge that Jackson was intending to rob the men in the apartment.
