MEADVILLE, Pa. (AP) - A friend in need turned out to be somewhat less than a friend indeed for one man seeking a ride to a northwestern Pennsylvania college campus.
The Titusville Herald reports Tuesday that a West Seneca, N.Y. man was cited for underage drinking after he flagged down a state trooper on Route 6 in West Mead Township early Sunday.
The man, 19-year-old Nathan Lawson, asked the trooper for a ride to nearby Allegheny College in Meadville about 1 a.m. Noticing the man had been drinking, the trooper cited him.
Online court records don't list an attorney for Lawson.
It was not immediately clear if he is a student at the college, about 90 miles north of Pittsburgh, or had some other reason to be headed there.
