JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) - Jamestown Police have arrested a man they say stabbed his victim in the stomach, and as the victim drove away to get to a hospital emergency room, whipped a hammer at the victim's car.
The 29-year-old victim came into the WCA Hospital Sunday afternoon around 2:15 p.m. with a serious stab wound. Police were called and began investigating. The victim told officers he was stabbed on Fulton Street at Strong Street in Jamestown.
Three hours later, investigators located and arrested 29-year-old Kelvin Thomas, charging him with first degree assault and third degree criminal mischief. The latter charge is for throwing the hammer at the victim's car as he drove away, damaging the car's windshield.
Thomas was arraigned Monday and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.
