Man arrested after violent domestic

SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - An Erie County man has been arrested after a violent domestic incident in the Village of Springville.

Sheriff's deputies arrested 26-year-old Jason Ovitt of North Collins for second degree burglary, third degree criminal mischief, criminal obstruction of breathing, petit larceny and forcible touching. Authorities say at 8:25 a.m. on Thursday, Ovitt went to his ex-girlfriend's house, barged inside, choked her, and broke items in the home.

After, deputies say Ovitt left the house, taking the victim's cell phone with him. He turned himself over to authorities later Thursday afternoon.

Ovitt was arraigned and taken to the Erie County Holding Center on $650.
