NORTH COLLINS, N.Y. (WIVB) - Erie County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Collins man Saturday morning after responding to an accident on Southwestern Blvd. on the Seneca Nation Reservation.
Reportedly, the operator of the vehicle that struck the rear end of a car and then fled the scene was 50-year-old John Darwin.
With help from the Seneca Nation Marshals, Darwin's vehicle was located a short time after on Versailles Plank Rd.
After further questioning Darwin, authorities determined he was intoxicated. He was not cooperative with the deputies and struggled during his arrest.
He was taken into custody without further incident where he refused taking a chemical test.
Darwin was charged with DWI as well as Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration, along with numerous traffic violations.
The additional charges stem from an active arrest warrant out of the Town of Collins by State Police for Criminal Mishcief.
Darwin was taken to the Erie County Holding Center where he was held pending arraignment.
