AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Good Samaritan came to the rescue of a woman who was being attacked by a man with a knife at the Walmart on Sheridan Drive in Amherst.
Authorities say the attacked happened on Wednesday around 4:45 p.m. The suspect, 61-year-old Edward Grabiarz, allegedly attacked the 50-year-old victim, causing superficial knife wounds on her back. A Good Samaritan stepped forward to stop the assault, subduing Grabiarz until police arrived.

Grabiarz is being charged with second degree assault, second degree menacing, and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon. Police say they do not know the motivation behind the attack, and there is no known relationship between the suspect and the victim.
The woman was treated at the scene and declined further treatment at a hospital.
