IRVING, N.Y. (WIVB) - State Police say a man falsely reported his vehicle stolen after crashing it on Versailles Plank Road on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation.
Troopers say 31-year-old Ian Johengen reported his 2009 Dodge Ram pickup four days ago, claiming it was taken in the early morning hours. Authorities discovered the truck had been impounded that same morning by Erie County Sheriff's deputies after being found abandoned with extensive damage.
State Police investigated and determined Johengen was the sole occupant of the truck was driving it when it crashed. He was charged Wednesday with for making a false written statement and third degree falsely reporting an incident.
