LAKEWOOD, N.Y. (WIVB) - Thursday, the man who was arrested while dressed as the Joker is due in court. Aaron Chase was arrested while wearing face paint, a wig and all black clothing over the weekend.

Police say they picked him up for harassment, and for refusing to leave a southern tier Applebee's. Thursday, Aaron Chase will face a judge.

Police say Chase was drunk, acting erratically and refused to leave the Applebee’s and police didn’t want to take any chances. Especially after the recent mass shootings in Newtown, Connecticut and Aurora, Colorado, where the shooter walked into a crowded movie theater, dressed as the joker, and opened fire.

This isn’t the first time Chase has done something like this. The owner of Good Times Saloon, which is just down the street from Applebee's, told News 4 that Chase had been dressed and made up the same way at least three times in the last two weeks.

Before the Applebee's incident, the Good Time’s owner says Chase was making gun gestures toward the bar tender.

After his arrest, Chase was taken to an area hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. Thursday he was due to face trespassing charges for refusing to leave the restaurant.

But News 4 learned Chase was granted an adjournment until next month. The reasons for the adjournment were not disclosed.
