Man fined for mailing prison contraband

ATTICA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Authorities say a man tried to mail an inmate at the Wyoming Correctional Facility synthetic marijuana hidden in food packages.

State Police arrested Malik White, 21, of White Plains last week and charged him with second degree attempted promoting prison contraband, a misdemeanor. Prison officials found the packages intended for the inmate in the Attica facility and intercepted them before they were delivered.

White later turned himself over to authorities to face charges. Following an argeement with the District Attorney, White was sentenced to fines and surcharges totaling $500.
