CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Firefighters were called to Harris Hill Road in Clarence early Thursday morning for reports of a car blocking the southbound lane and State Police say it was quickly determined the driver was drunk.
The fire department arrived on scene around 5:45 a.m. and roused the driver. Police say 21-year-old Michael Donaldson of Cheektowaga tried to drive away, but firefighters pulled his keys from the ignition and waited for troopers to arrive.
Donaldson was given field sobriety tests and police say after he failed them, he was charged with DWI. He was arrested and taken to the station, where police say he blew a .15 percent BAC.
Donaldson was released and will appear in court next week.
