KENDALL, N.Y. (WIVB) - Deputies say an Orleans County man shot his wife, set his home on fire, and then shot himself in the face.

Authorities responded to the Buehler residence on Peter Smith Road in Kendall shortly after 7 p.m. Monday night. The Orleans County Sheriff's Office says within moments after Linda Buehler, 58, returned home, she was shot by her husband, 64-year-old Dennis Buehler.

Deputies say Linda was struck in the shoulder and after a brief struggle, she managed to flee the home, get in her vehicle and drive to a nearby home for help.

Deputies responded swiftly and set up a perimeter around the home. Authorities say Buehler set his home on fire and then walked outside and shot himself in the face.

Both Linda and Dennis were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. Pending his recovery, Dennis is facing several charges.

Multiple fire crews from Orleans and Monroe counties responded to the blaze, but they were unable to contain the flames. The house was a total loss.
