John Pieri returned to Amherst Town Court Thursday on a probation violation. A judge sentenced the 39-year-old to spend a year behind bars.
Pieri was on probation for his role in an accident that seriously injured two women near Daemen College in 2009. He served 30 days in jail.
Victim Amy Stewart said, "I can't play soccer competitively, I'm working hard, running again stuff like that but those things I can't play soccer that was a big part of my life."
The driver, Andrea Glinski, was given a sentence of one to three years for leaving the scene.
