BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A second City of Buffalo parking employee appeared in court, admitting he stole thousands of dollars from parking meters.
James Bagarozzo and fellow meter mechanic Lawrence Charles were charged in December 2011 with stealing while on the job from 2003 to 2011. On Tuesday, Charles pleaded guilty to stealing at least $15,000 from meters from 2007 to 2011. After pleading guilty, Charles was fired.
On Thursday, Bagarozzo admitted he intentionally damaged over 75 parking meters and stole over $200,000 in quarters over an eight-year period. The city was expected to formally terminate him after court.
Both men were suspended without pay following the raid. Charles and Bagarozzo will have to pay restitution and will be sentenced later this year.
