CLARENDON, NY (AP) - Two men remain jailed in western New York after state police say the men were caught with 450 pounds of marijuana.
Authorities say a state police drug task force arrested 29-year-old Roderick Johnson of Rochester and 37-year-old Calvin Bennett of the Bronx last Thursday in the rural Orleans County town of Clarendon.
Troopers say both men are Jamaican nationals. They were charged with criminal possession of marijuana and remain in custody Monday at the county jail on $200,000 bail. It couldn't be determined if they had lawyers.
Police say Bennett and Johnson stored the pot in a container that held some office furniture and nine cardboard boxes. Troopers say each box contained 50-pound bales of marijuana.
