Mom and son falsely report burglary

BRANT, N.Y. (WIVB) - A mother and son are facing charges in an unusual incident on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office got a call reporting a burglary at a resident on Route 438 around noon an Friday and deputies responded. Authorities were told multiple items were taken when the mother and son were out of the home for an hour. However, authorities say after a brief investigation it became clear the story was bogus.

Police say 28-year-old Jordan O'Connell flushed some of his mother's prescription pills. In an attempt to replace the prescription, authorities say he concocted the robbery story and convinced his mother, 51-year-old Donna Delousia, to go along with it. Delousia even went so far as to give police a false written statement. No items were actually taken from the home.

O'Connell was cuffed and charged with third degree falsely reporting an incident and fourth degree criminal mischief. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center on $500 bail. His mother was charged with third degree falsely reporting an incident and making a false written statement. She was released at her residence.

Both mom and son will appear in Town of Brant Court at a later date.
