Murder suspect jumps in front of train

JENKINTOWN, Pa. (WIVB) - A New York man wanted in connection to a homicide fled from police in his car and then by foot. At the last minute before he could be captured, police say the man killed himself by jumping in front of a train.

It began last Friday when Schuyler County Sheriff's deputies found the body of 31-year-old Daniel Bennett in his home on Pearl Street in the Town of Dix. After investigating for two days, police determined Thomas Borden, 32, of Corning may have been involved and put out a violent felony warrant for his arrest.

Early Monday, deputies and NYS Police went to PA to track down Borden. Around 8 a.m., they found him near Jenkintown and Borden drove off, eventually stopping his vehicle and fleeing on foot and managing to elude capture.

Police in Jenkintown spotted Borden some two hours later, and as they started to question him, they say he took off running. Before they could stop him, Borden jumped in the path of an oncoming train, killing himself.

Police say the will continue to investigate the homicide and Borden's involvement.
