BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Saturday, September 29th is a National Prescription Take Back Day. Events will be held around New York State to pick up unwanted and unused prescription drugs in a safe way.
According to the Drug Enforcement Agency, four previous Take Back Days have taken in more than 774 tons of medication.
The drop-off sites will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday. There are several sites in western New York, you can find the location closest to you by following this link.
If you can’t participate in the take-back program, the State Department of Environmental Conservation reminds you not to flush unused drugs if possible.
For more information on recommendations to dispose of household drugs, visit www.dec.ny.gov.
