HINSDALE, N.Y. (WIVB) - The owner of a small dog found hanging dead by its leash from a southern tier bridge has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges.
John Bird, 44, of Olean claimed that he let the brown-and-black terrier go free on a back road. Authorities later found the dog hanging from a bridge on Underwood Road in Hinsdale. Its leash had been tied to the guardrail.
Bird was charged with animal cruelty for not providing the dog with necessary food and water. He will be sentenced in February in Hinsdale Court.
