MIDDLEPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two men have been charged with stealing between 15,000 and 20,000 pills from a western New York pharmacy.
On August 12, the Middleport Family Health Center was broken into and tens of thousands of pills were taken. Two days later, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received a tip from an informant that 21-year-old Cody Broecker of North Tonawanda and 45-year-old William Chapple, III of Lockport were responsible.
Deputies raided Chapple's Lockport home and say they found hundreds of capsules and prescription tablets that had been taken from the pharmacy. Authorities say after that, Chapple and Broecker fled the area.
On Thursday, authorities caught up to the two men in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Both have been charged with burglarizing a pharmacy, conspiring to burglarize a pharmacy, and possession with intent to distribute prescription drugs and conspiring with intent to distribute prescription drugs.
The burglary charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, as do the drug charges. Both men will make an initial court appearance in Medford, Oregon.
