BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Last month, the idea arose to build a freestanding wine store at the Amherst Street Wegmans. Tuesday, the idea went before the Buffalo Planning Board.
Grant-Amherst Business Association President Mark Kubiniec said, “Well, it could be a good proposal for the neighborhood. We'd like to see a true urban building with two stories, mixed use, like would be required under the city's new Green Code."
The liquor store wouldn’t be inside of Wegmans, because it’s against the law in New York to sell wine inside supermarkets. Instead, it would be in a separate building
When the idea was presented to residents in the Black Rock neighborhood, they seemed to like it, but said they don’t want their area to turn too commercial.
The planning board tabled the plan for another two weeks during their Tuesday meeting at City Hall.
