MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A 29-year-old Pennsylvania woman is charged with leaving her newborn alone in her car while she shopped at a local Wal-Mart.
Nataliya Ward of Enola is charged with child endangerment and leaving a child unattended in a vehicle.
Silver Spring Township police said an officer patrolling the Walmart parking lot Friday noticed a BMW taking up three parking spaces. They said the officer looked inside the car and saw the 20-day-old infant wrapped in a blanket, lying on the floor behind the passenger's seat.
When Ward came out of the store she was confronted by police.
Authorities said the case has been referred to Cumberland County Children and Youth Services. It couldn't immediately be determined if she had an attorney.
