BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo couple was charged Thursday with providing an unfit home for their two young children.
Erie County Sheriff's deputies say 29-year-old Shawn Lyons and 27-year-old Heather Obstarczyk, both of Columbus Avenue, were living with their 2-year-old and 3-year-old children in deplorable conditions. Deputies say inside the home were soiled clothing and diapers, as well as numerous piles of dog feces. Both parents face two counts each of endangering the welfare of a child.
The discovery was made while deputies conducted a court-ordered property seizure. The children have been turned over to their grandfather in West Seneca and the case was given to Child Protective Services.
