NEWBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have canceled an Amber Alert about a 5-year-old girl snatched off a Hudson Valley street, saying they've determined there was no abduction.
City of Newburgh police say Thursday no children have been reported missing. They also say there's no evidence to support a report from a group of children that a girl was carried into a truck by two men who pulled up near a school shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Investigators said surveillance video from cameras in the area didn't show an abduction, but did show the children who reported it playing around the school.
The kids' account and a previous report of a suspicious vehicle touched off the Amber Alert. The investigation included state police, the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
