Police: license plate was made of paper

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo man is facing numerous charges after being stopped by deputies on Vermont Street Sunday night.

Erie County Strike Force deputies pulled over 34-year-old Eugene Clemons around 8 p.m. when they saw he had parked illegally. They also noted the license plate did not match Clemons' car.

Upon further inspection, deputies say Clemons' license plates were made of paper and had a cardboard backing. In his possession, Clemons allegedly had multiple fake credit cards and a forged Florida driver's license, bearing a different name than the name on the credit cards. And deputies say Clemons admitted he was making the fake cards when they interviewed.

But on top of that, deputies say they found a counterfeit $50 bill on Clemons and a small amount of marijuana. Plus, deputies say his vehicle was unregistered, uninspected, uninsured, and Clemons has a suspended NYS driver's license.

Clemons was arrested and his vehicle was impounded. The U.S. Secret Service will investigate the counterfeit bill.
