NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Niagara Falls man was arrested on Wednesday, charged with robbing two 7/11 stores and attempting to rob a third in just the past week.
Police say on September 5th, right around midnight, 21-year-old Paul Schubert attempted to rob the 7/11 on Buffalo Avenue. But after authorities say he demanded cigarettes, the clerk hit the panic button, and Schubert fled.
Around 1:20 in the morning on September 6th, police say Schubert returned to a different 7/11, this one on Niagara Street. Authorities say he demanded money and cigarettes, telling the cashier he had a weapon, though none was displayed, and this time he was successful.
Niagara Falls Police say they caught up to Schubert on Wednesday when he robbed a 7/11 on Buffalo Avenue around 12:30 a.m., just down the street from the one he allegedly fled from on September 5th. Police say he made off with money and cigarettes, but two hours later, they had him in custody.
Detectives say they had identified Schubert as a suspect after the first two incidents, but were unable to locate him at his Garden Avenue home. After the third robbery, police say they tracked Schubert to a house on Lockport Road and placed him under arrest.
Schubert is being held in the Niagara County Jail on $65,000 bail. He is charged with first degree robbery, second degree robbery, second degree attempted robbery, second degree menacing, and fourth degree grand larceny.
