BARKER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Niagara County postal carrier admitted stealing unemployment insurance benefits on Tuesday in federal court.
Deborah Manning, 55, of Barker was working as a postal carrier for the USPS while collecting unemployment insurance benefits between March 2007 and May 2012. Prosecutors say she fraudulently applied for the benefits on 38 separate occasions during that time period. All told, she stole just short of $9,000 in government funds.
When she is sentenced in February, Manning faces a maximum sentence of one year behind bars. She could also be fined $100,000.
