Senator Grisanti and wife pressing charges

Niagara Falls, N.Y- - Senator Mark Grisanti and his wife Maria are pressing charges against the women who they say attacked Maria on February 10 at the Seneca Niagara Casino.

He is also encouraging the Seneca Niagara Casino to release the surveillance tapes.

In a statement released Sunday morning, the Senator says "It is time to let the law enforcement and judicial systems do its job."

Last week, the Grisantis were just heading home after they watched their daughter sing with The Scintas at the Seneca Diabetes Foundation black-tie gala.

As they walked through the lobby, Senator Grisanti says he noticed two Native American men looking like they were about to fight.  After he tried to get between them, Grisanti was attacked .  As he was being attacked, two women brutally beat Maria Grisanti.

Senator Grisanti has stated since the attack that he does not hold the Seneca Nation, Seneca President, or the Seneca Tribal Council responsible for the "isolated and unfortunate event."

Grisanti says he has always taught that when you make a mistake or do something wrong apologies are in order but they "will not apologize for the vicious attack" that took place against his wife.

"We did not do anything wrong. All of my actions were instinctive to protect my wife, and are what any other man would have done under these circumstances.  As far as I'm concerned the incident was not over until my wife was safely in my arms."
