BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo Police responded to a stabbing scene in North Buffalo Thursday afternoon.

Police say 16-year-old male suspect stabbed his mother with a pair of scissors around 1 p.m. while in the 1300 block of Hertel Avenue inside a barber shop. At the scene, a trail of blood outside came from inside the shop.

Authorities say the teen stabbed his mom as she attempted to break up a fight he was in with another person.

The teen has been charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. His mother is in stable condition at ECMC.
