ST. CATHERINES, ON (WIVB) - A 59 year-old St. Catharines man was struck and killed near the entrance to an on ramp for the QEW Saturday.
Niagara Regional Police report that at approximately 8:15 p.m., police and emergency responders had reports of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle near the entrance to the on ramp for the QEW at Dunkirk Road, St. Catharines, Ontario.
The initial investigation revealed that a 59 year old St. Catharines male was struck at the entrance to the QEW at Dunkirk Road by a Pontiac Grand Am being operated by a 35 year old St. Catharines male.
The Pontiac was traveling eastbound, attempting to enter onto the QEW from Dunkirk Road when the pedestrian was struck.
The 59 year old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The 35 year old male driver was not injured in the collision.
This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Service’s - Collision Reconstruction Unit.
