BELMONT, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Allegany County Sherrif's Office is reminding parents to talk to their children about drugs, and to lock medications in a safe place. This reminder is coming because three Allegany County teenagers are facing second-degree reckless endangerment charges.
The charges stem from a November incident, when the Allegany Sheriff’s Office says a 17-year-old student that attends Elm Street Academy brought several non-narcotic prescription pills to school.
Police say they believe that student places at least one of the pills in the soda of a student, shortly after breakfast. The student determined it was tainted and the soda was discarded.
The 17 year old is accused of passing at least one pill to another 17-year-old student, while on the bus to BOCES Vocational Center in Belmont. The Sheriff’s Office says that student passed half of that pill to a 15-year-old student during their lunch break.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, that student then placed pieces of the pill into a bottle of water that belonged to another student. That water has been seized by the Sheriff’s Office for testing, the student hadn’t consumed the water.
The 15 year old was arrested with his case will be handled in the Family Court system. The 17 year old students were arrested, processed and issued Appearance Tickets for the Town of Amity Court. Reappearance dates are set for the beginning to 2012.
