BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Wednesday morning, Nineteen-year-old Adell Ziegler is due in court for a pretrial hearing. He is charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
Ziegler is accused of setting a puppy, named Phoenix by the community, on fire. If convicted, he could face up to two years in prison.

The other defendant in the case, 17-year-old Diondre Brown, has already pleaded guilty to being Ziegler’s look out.
The latest update on Phoenix from the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter says that the canine's skin grafts are healing well and now he is able to touch his most severely injured leg, wrapped in protective bandages, to the floor.
