Ten women accused of prostitution

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Detectives have rounded up ten woman on prostitution charges in the northtowns. The arrests resulted from a sting operation by detectives in the town of Tonawanda.

Investigators say the suspected prostitutes posted their assets on the web as a calling card to draw their customers, or "johns," under the guise of legitimate services.

Tonawanda Police Lt. Nicholas Bado said, "They are labeled as an escort or something along those lines, so it seems a little bit less obvious what they're up to. But the conversation, once the phone calls are made, quickly turns right to business."

Lt. Bado then says detectives from the Special Investigations Unit followed up on those leads, calling to set up their "business" meetings at a hotel or motel.

"They are meeting up with them and there's quickly an agreement and an exchange of money and then it's quickly put to an end," said Lt. Bado.

In two days, Tonawanda cops collared 10 women, charging them with soliciting and prostitution. Lt. Bado says the women were part of a loose network of freelance prostitutes from as far away as California and Georgia and as old as 58.

"Maybe they had been staying with a relative or a friend or somebody for the last few months. They were able to provide Buffalo addresses, however, they had identification from states all across the country," said Lt. Bado.

But Lt. Bado said, in these tough times, the women seem to be more desperate, making sure they keep their appointments.

Lt. Bado said, "Our detectives would call, set up the meeting, and never show up. Now, they said, on every occasion they set up over the last few days, they didn't get stiffed once. Everyone showed up."

The following women were arrested in the sting:

  • Angelina Lin, 58, of Simi Valley, California
  • Dawn Keiser, 45, of Buffalo, NY
  • Kimberly Satterfield, 44, of City of Tonawanda, NY
  • Christie Jordan, 32, of Buffalo, NY
  • Brianna Kropp, 22, of Buffalo, NY
  • Laura Oswald, 25, of Buffalo, NY
  • Natalie Britton, 31, of Toledo, Ohio
  • Demetria Keiser 22, of Buffalo, NY (Georgia ID)
  • Rashanda Langston, 27, of Buffalo, NY
  • Dusty Dalton, 31, of Buffalo, NY (Ohio ID)
