TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Imagine someone trying to break into your house, while you're still at home.
That's what police say is happening in the Town of Tonawanda. Detectives are investigating a rash of break-ins around the Deerhurst Park neighborhood. Thieves are making off with cash, jewelry - even make-up. One homeowner says she saw two people running away from her house while she was home.
Lt. Nick Bado said, "A couple weeks ago, the people that live in these neighborhoods probably didn't even think about the fact that there could be a burglary happening. So that being said, I would make it a habit regardless of what the current news is in your neighborhood to make sure your doors are locked, make sure the windows are secured."
Police are seeking tips at 875-5300.
