CONCORD, N.Y. (WIVB) - An alert citizen tipped off Erie County Sheriff's deputies Thursday afternoon when they saw what appeared to be an intoxicated woman stagger to her car and drive away.
A citizen called deputies around 3:30 p.m. after watching the woman stagger to her car in a WalMart parking lot in Concord and drive away. The tipster gave police a license plate number, and deputies pulled over the car on Route 39. Deputies say as the driver, 64-year-old Carol Spaulding, pulled over, she struck a guard rail.
Spaulding was placed under arrest after she failed field sobriety tests. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
Back at the station, she registered a .14 BAC. She was released to a third party and will appear in Town of Concord Court at a later date.
