A southern tier man learned his fate Monday for killing a man by stabbing him, and hitting him with a crowbar.
Twenty-two-year-old Gregory Farr was sentenced to 19 years to life for admitting to hitting 58-year-old Steven Balser over the head and then stabbing him over 20 times until he stopped moving, in Allegany last October.
Farr admitted to the crime when questioned by investigators, saying he felt disrespected and telling them "When Steve walked in, I hit him with a crowbar. He said it hurt really bad; we can call it even. But I said, "No, I have to finish.""
