BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The criminal trial of the bus driver who struck and killed a young Buffalo boy has been moved to October 23rd.
Miriam Shipman struck 10-year-old Darpan Niroula while driving a church daycare bus last December. The boy's family has filed a multi-million dollar civil suit, claiming Shipman didn't have a commercial driver's license and was driving a bus with faulty brakes.
The attorney for the victim's family, Frank Bogulski, said, "This bus had horrible brakes and should have never been on the road. And it's been an emotional roller coaster for the family."
The prosecution and defense will call several witnesses to the stand. The trial is expected to last a couple of days before the civil case begins.
