ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A trial date has been set for a former college student accused of fatally beating his girlfriend inside her upstate New York dorm room.
The Observer-Dispatch of Utica reports Wednesday that Clayton Whittemore's trial is now set to begin Sept. 30, a day after what will be the one-year anniversary of 18-year-old Alexandra Kogut's death.

The schedule was set Wednesday in state Supreme Court in Rochester. A motions hearing was postponed until May 10.
A Monroe County Sheriff's report released in October says the 21-year-old Whittemore told authorities he snapped when he beat Kogut to death at the State University of New York College at Brockport Sept. 29.
Whittemore, a Utica College student, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
