CHERRY CREEK, N.Y. (WIVB) - While attempting to pull over a vehicle Saturday night in Cherry Creek, a trooper found himself in a lengthy car and brief foot chase.

Around 8:15 p.m., the trooper saw a vehicle parked in the Chautauqua County DOT salt barn lot on County Route 68. When he went to see why the car was parked there, the driver took off refusing to stop for the trooper.

Activating the patrol car's lights and siren, the operator, Donald Pfaffenbach, 31, of Collins continued to drive at various speeds on County Route 68 fheor 9 miles lasting 12 minutes.

Pfaffenbach eventually pulled over on Center Road and took off by foot into a brush area causing a short foot chase with him and the trooper.

When he was caught and placed into custody, he told the trooper he was in need of medical attention after he injected heroin into his body at the salt barn.

The trooper has Cherry Creek Volunteer Fire Ambulance take Pfaffenbach to Brooks Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

After being released from the hospital, he was directed to State Police and was arrested for Felony Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st, Reckless Driving, Speeding and other miscellaneous Vehicle and Traffic violations.

He was also charged with New York State Penal Law charges of Fleeing of a Police Officer in t

3rd degree and Resisting Arrest.

Pfaffenbach was arraigned in the Town of Cherry Creek Town Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 property bond.
