ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - Our sister CBS station in Rochester, WROC, is reporting that bones have been found in Georgetown County, South Carolina in an area extensively searched in the case of missing Chili teen Brittanee Drexel.
Fishermen found the bones yesterday near Sampit River bridge in an area called Carol Campbell Landing.
At this point, authorities are still not sure if they are human or animal bones.
There is no known connection to the Brittanee Drexel case at this point, except possibly the location.
The 17-year-old disappeared in April 2009 while on spring break. There have been extensive searches in the Georgetown area.
Brittanee's mom, Dawn Drexel, has been made aware of the new developments and is waiting for test results.
