BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo woman has pleaded guilty to stealing purses from customers at Wegmans on Amherst Street.
The Erie County District Attorney’s Office says 50-year-old Charlene McBride admits to stealing purses, four with credit cards inside, on five separate occasions. According to the D.A.’s office, McBride would wait for a customer to leave her shopping cart unattended, and then make off with the customer’s purse.
McBride pleaded guilty as charged to four counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and a single county of petit larceny.
McBride could face a maximum prison sentence of 5 ⅓ to 16 years in prison when she is sentenced in May.
